| The cover letter example below was written for a job seeker
looking to land a position as a management consultant. The applicant
started her cover letter by referencing how she became aware of
the opening and stating her current position. She then
leveraged her current experience working as a financial analyst
in the industry as launching pad for a lateral move to become a
management consultant. Having worked with a software
company, she knows the needs of companies similar to the one she
is working for and, therefore, would be in a good position as a
management consultant to address those needs. In the
second paragraph of her cover letter, the applicant described
some major projects she was involved in and also mentioned her
experience dealing with senior management. Again, this
demonstrates that, as a consultant, she would know how to
approach them. One interesting sentence of the cover
letter is the last one of the third paragraph where the
applicant asked for the opportunity to translate her experience
into business solutions for the employer's customers. This
goes to the core of what consulting is about.
