ABC COMPANY, Madrid
Operating Executive / Executive & Non-Executive Director 2002 - Present

In this position I hold full accountability for the complete value chain including Research Development and Innovation, purchasing, operations, subcontracting, logistics, physical distribution, customer service and the implementation of shared services in the portfolio companies.

I was the Lead Advisor and CEO in a start-up venture that was created for the acquisition and revitalization of the biggest European Personal Care products manufacturing plant, which was going through bankruptcy.  I spearheaded the negotiation strategy with all affected parties.

As CEO in a food service/restaurant start-up business I led the team for one year and was key in the business realizing its first commercial production and profitable trading. The business was sold for twice the investment.

I was brought in as CRO to stabilize, restructure operations and sell a Solar Power business franchise which consisted of 56 franchises, 3 factories and 500 employees.  Upon completion, the company was sold for 30x the original investment.

Iberia Supply Chain Director 2005 - 2007

I was tapped to advise and implement the European Asset Management operational restructuring and performance improvement program.

As a member of the international steering committee, I designed critical centralization initiatives using Lean Sigma methodology and was directly responsible for the implementation of Supply Chain shared services which achieved 2.6 million € in continuing cost reductions, 15% labour savings and 6% business volume increase.

I was the driving force behind customer-centric continuous improvements in supply chain efficiency, realizing 3 million € in savings by partnering with European retailers to institute collection process synchronized with consumer spending.

XYZ CORPORATION
Madrid, Lisbon, Dusseldorf, Maidenhead (UK), Paris 1989 - 2002

I was recruited for several special assignments from 1993 to 2002.  I was a member of the international steering committee to create and implement consumer product transfer strategy to support the closing of 39 plants worldwide.  I advised on a comprehensive operational restructuring and turnaround program which included the strategic repositioning and reorganization of the European structure.

I delivered multi-million dollar US savings by supporting the migration of manufacturing capacity to lower cost Eastern European and Far Eastern countries including the set up of a new production facility in the Czech Republic and the implementation of a focused product strategy aimed at eliminating noncore products.

In this position I also formulated and implemented an operational restructuring plan which included the rationalization of capacity in Portugal, Spain, Italy, Austria, Germany and France, resulting in the closure of five plants.   I had to conduct careful and sensitive handling of the negotiations with union and work councils to address the major labor relations implications.

I earned consistent and progressively responsible promotions over twelve years, moving through materials management, logistics, product development, supply chain and restructuring roles, for a diverse range of business units and product franchises in Europe, Africa and the Middle East. I held P&L accountability for all components of the cost of goods sold line, manufacturing costs and total distribution expenses in all Director-level assignments.

ABC INTERNATIONAL, Paris
Worldwide Supply Chain Director, 2000 - 2002

As supply chain director I directed worldwide supply chain, operations and logistics for RoC and Evian-Affinity business franchises in close coordination with Marketing and R&D.  I collaborated with other executives to profitably grow the brands by providing innovative vision and strategic direction.

I developed and managed aggressive Japan, Korea, and US launch plans for the exclusive, high-gross profit ABC brand which generated sales of 20, 7 and 30 million € respectively. Additionally, I participated on the team negotiating listing and operational conditions with major US retailers.

I lent my support to the successful green-field development and launch of ABC brand in France, UK, Ireland and Spain which generated sales of 10 million € while reducing total delivered costs to operating companies by 4 million €.

ABC COMPANY, Maidenhead (UK)
Major Restructuring Projects 1999 - 2000

I was singled out by the European Executive Board for special assignment to create consumer products transfer strategy to support the closing of three European plants.

Throughout these assignments I maintained control of product development/modification, formula standardization, total packaging, and a regional operational budget of 36 million €.

I negotiated and facilitated manufacturing relocation to China and Germany which was completed ahead of schedule and under budget and enabled annual savings of more than 5 million €.

ABC COMPANY, Düsseldorf
Supply Chain Director, 1997 - 1999

In this position I oversaw demand management operations for the countries coordinating product supply and customization, with P&L accountability for total delivered costs.

I managed 40 million € budget and the strategic direction of supply chain processes and management systems for the mature feminine hygiene product market.

I was able to shorten replenishment lead time by 50%, to 15 days — improving order fill rate, customer service level, and on-shelf product availability by 25% in addition to achieving a 2.5 million € (10%) COGS savings.

What’s Next?

As it has been in the past, my focus will continue to be offering value to my employers and clients as a member on the Board of Advisors, Board of Directors or by advising and consulting in regards to board and corporate governance, operations, supply chain management, acquisition strategy and integration.

In addition, I have just received two highly regarded qualifications endorsed by the International Corporate Governance Network and the Global Corporate Governance Forum.  The first, recognition as Executive & Non-Executive Director by Instituto de Consejeros-Administradores, member institution of ecoDa and the second, as an expert in Corporate Governance.
